Tradition in the kitchen!

Every year I make spiced-orange nuts to munch on through the holidays or to give as little gifts to neighbors and friends. Enjoy!

4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1 tsp. vanilla or orange extract
2 tablespoons of water or orange juice
4-5 cups walnuts, pecans, or blanched almonds or mixed nuts

In a heavy pan (or electric frying pan) over medium heat, melt butter. Add remaining ingredients and stir until nuts are coated. Cook, uncovered until nuts are toasted and glazed, stirring occasionally. Spoon nuts onto wax peper and separate with fork. Cool and enjoy or package.
