Great Christmas memories!

funny Father Christmas with Sack

Perhaps my favorite Christmas memory was waking up to see white figure skates under the tree with my name on them. They were put to good use since we lived by a river that froze solid in Minnesota winters. We didn't seem to mind shoveling mountains of snow to clear a spot on the ice to skate until our cheeks were bright red and our fingers and toes were numb. Mom always seemed to know when we'd had enough and the hot chocolate was steaming and already in the cup when we came in smelling of wet wool and happiness. I hang a little ornament on the tree every year....a pair of white china ice skates. Dorothy Hamill would have been envious.
