Don't miss the Bellagio's Christmas garden display in Las Vegas!

The display of rose topiaries on a sea of floating cranberries, bordered with poinsettias and surrounded by lighted trees took my breath away several years ago at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Don't try this at home!

Facts you need to know...or not!

In 1882, the first Christmas tree was lit by the use of electricity. Edward Johnson lighted up a Christmas tree in New York City with eighty small electric light bulb. It should be noted that Edward Johnson created the first string of electric Christmas lights that were then mass produced around 1890. By 1900, department stores started using the new Christmas lights for their Christmas displays.

Edward Johnson was one of Thomas Edison's muckers, an inventor who worked under the direction of Edison. Johnson became vice-president of Edison's electric company.

Tis' the Season for Light!

If you get close to Boise, Idaho this season.....it is so worth visiting the Idaho Botanical Gardens for the display of light. You can stroll through this fantasyland with a cup of hot chocolate and warm yourself by the fires throughout the gardens. Spectacular!
